POP UP CITY - SUFFIELD ALBERTA, CANADA

Parléview was engaged as the event management and logistics lead responsible for planning, delivering, and operationalizing Round 4 – Prototype Testing of the IDEaS Pop up City Contest, transforming a complex defence innovation challenge into a fully realized, live testing environment at CFB Suffield. This final phase represented the culmination of four iterative rounds of solution development—moving from individual concepts through integrated systems to full-scale prototype testing—requiring a secure, controlled, and operationally realistic setting that mirrored Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) deployment conditions.

For two years Parléview worked closely with DND and CAF stakeholders to design a test environment capable of evaluating integrated energy, water, and waste management systems intended for Relocatable Temporary Camps (RTCs). The contest challenged innovators to deliver scalable, resilient solutions capable of sustaining camps ranging from 150 to 1,500 personnel, while significantly reducing fuel and water inputs and waste outputs. Parléview translated these technical and performance objectives into a physical site plan, logistics model, and operational schedule aligned with military readiness standards and airfield safety requirements.

Parléview coordinated the build and 24/7 operation of three independent test sites, managed secure equipment handling, onsite communications, and continuous health and safety oversight, and delivered comprehensive pre-deployment and onsite safety briefings. We staffed the activation end-to-end—providing event leadership, operations, engineering support, security coordination, travel and accommodation logistics, catering, branding, and stakeholder hosting.

The activation concluded with near-perfect participant feedback and a fully coordinated demobilization, returning the site to pre-test conditions. The project stands as a benchmark in translating defence innovation challenges into complex, live operational environments delivered safely, securely, and at scale.
